Ryan Roth and Peter Disera join Jet Fuel Cycling/Norco Bicycles

Ryan Roth

Jet Fuel Cycling/Norco Bicycles, the Ontario-based development squad has brought in two strong riders into its ranks: former Canadian road champion Ryan Roth and Peter Disera, whose 2013 palmares include silver at the men’s junior world cross country championships and Canadian junior men’s time trial champion.

In 2013, Roth rode with the now-defunct UCI pro continental Champion System. With the closing of the China-based team and the dearth of job opportunities in the pro peloton, Roth has returned to the team he rode with from 2002 to 2004, when it was known as Sympatico-Jet Fuel Coffee. With experience from such races as Tro-Bro Léon (which he won in 2012), Tour de Beauce and the Quebec Grand Prix races, he will be a mentor to the younger riders on team. “I’m really looking forward to starting the new season with these guys,” Ryan said in a statement. “We’ll have to  work hard and form a tight-knit, cohesive group to tackle the tougher schedule. The challenge of getting results and showing the guys the ropes is exciting and motivating.” Some of the team’s first challenges will be racing in California at the San Dimas Stage Race, March 28–30, and the Redlands Classic, April 3–6.

Joining Roth on the road is a rider better known for his riding on the dirt: Peter Disera. Disera will continue competing in mountain bike and cyclocross events for the Norco Factory Team. When it comes to road events, he will be in Jet Fuel Cycling kit. Two more additions to the team include Kevin Massicotte, who’s competed at the Ontario Summer Games, and Robert Gutgesell, who finished 10th at the 2013 Tour of the Catskills.

Riders returning to Jet Fuel Cycling/Norco Bicycles include Brandon Etzl, 2013 under-23 provincial road champion and winner of the Tour de White Rock hill climb stage, Anton Varabei, Travis Samuel, Yuri Hrycaj, Chris Freeland and Joe Giuliano.
