New women’s gear show announced

Interbike and Outdoor Retailer are teaming up for a new media event dedicated to women’s-specific gear.

The new event, called the Women’s Story, will take place between June 10-12 and will feature 20-25 outdoor retailers showcasing their new women’s gear.

The new show will give prominent gear and outdoor journalists a chance to test the products in the situations they were intended to be used in. That means testing mountain bikes and other cycling products on off-road trails at the Crystal Springs resort in northern New Jersey, where the show will be held.

“Our media events do much more than showcase a certain segment of the retail sports market,” said Darrell Denny, SVP Sports Group and Business Development for Emerald Expositions. “They allow the media to really get their feet wet and their hands dirty by testing the product in the environment in which they were designed for, and then have the opportunity to interview company designers and product developers in one unique setting.”

Interbike and Outdoor Retailer are both owned by Emerald Expositions, a company that runs 65 trade shows. Interbike, their largest show, attracts over 25,000 guests each year and is the largest bicycle trade show in North America.
