Phil Burt’s thoughts on handlebar flare, saddle shape, crank length and more

From the mid-2000s to spring 2018, Phil Burt worked with British Cycling, as well as Team Sky starting in 2013, as a physiotherapist and bike position maestro. Currently, he runs his own physiotherapy and bike-fit clinic in the U.K., and is also the author of Bike Fit, which is now in its second edition.

Aside from the basics of getting your saddle height and position right, I asked Phil to point out a few things that are vital and often missed. He also touched on recent equipment and position trends. Here, in his own words, is what he had to say.
