The quiet roads and expanding bike infrastructure on Manitoulin Island
I’m fighting, heading west on Highway 540 toward Gore Bay. Unfortunately for me, the 49 km/h wind gusts are heading east.

I started out in Providence Bay, 60 km ago, on the south end of Manitoulin Island with a plan to make a 100-km counterclockwise loop around Mindemoya and Kagawong Lakes. The final destination: the Huron Sands Motel for its mouth-watering Eastern European menu. I can practically taste the pierogi as I pedal. But the wind is doing its best to knock the taste right out . . .
