Q&A with Matisse Julien: One of Canada’s most exciting prospects

The Premier Tech U23 Cycling Project launched in 2022 with the goal of helping young riders progress to the upper ranks of road cycling. The squad changed names for 2023, becoming Ecoflo Chronos, but its focus remained the same. Matisse Julien was on the squad for those two seasons and seems to be benefiting from its support—not in a rocket-to-cycling-stardom way. No, he’s taking steady steps onwards, which is the path most riders will take with the right amount of natural talent and the right infrastructure. In 2023, Julien had success in Canada and in France, and he lined up with the national team for the Grands Prix Cyclistes de Québec et de Montréal for the first time. In the coming year, he has new challenges and goals ahead of him.
