’Crossing over to gravel
Prior to 2021, the Crux was Specialized’s top cyclocross machine. Maghalie Rochette rode it to a World Cup and a Pan Am championship win. With the relaunch of the Crux in late 2021, Specialized put the frame within the gravel section of its website. It became a high-performance bike for long, rough rides. Yet still it was the frame that Rochette, who was involved in the development and testing of the bike, took to CX courses at Namur, Baal and worlds in Fayetteville. So, how gravelly did the ’cross bike really get?
