Unchained 2 brings the mountain to your couch

Mountain bikes have never been as well represented in the virtual world as skateboarding or snowboarding, but Bike Unchained 2 is hoping to change that. The game brings big names, virtual tracks and brand bikes to your handheld device.
While the game has been available for weeks, the recent legalization of cannabis in Canada could see its popularity grow. Mountain bikes may not have a long history in video games but riders are well known preference for mid-ride smoke stops. For their part, gamers have an even more widely acknowledged taste for the bud.
And, while weed may be legal, CCES is reminding athletes it’s not legal in competition. Plus, the safety of riding while high is questionable, at best, so Bike Unchained 2 might just be the best way to combine three recreational activities into one.
As for the details of the game itself, Bike Unchained 2 lets you ride epic downhill tracks, pull wild slopestyle tricks, and unlock the secrets of the fastest riders in the sport. With multiple different tracks and some big names, like Aaron Gwin and Myriam Nicole on board, it’s definitely a step up in quality. You can unlock more of your favourite freeride, slopestyle and downhill stars along the way. There’s even options to customize your virtual ride, with upgrades to parts and frames.
Since mountain biking is all about community, you can ride with other players around the world, through online game play.
For those of you who lean more toward Strava than creative strains, Zwift’s still the only way to combine actual workouts with virtual shredding. But who knows, weirder combinations have happened.
Bike Unchained 2 is available for Android or iOS devices now. Designed for one-handed play action, it’s been optimized for smaller screens.
