Felt FR and VR, new road race and endurance lines

Choose the FR if you're a road racer, or opt for the VR if adventure on any type of road is your thing

Felt VR

On Tuesday, Felt Bicycles announced the release of its two newest road bike series. The FR and VR road platforms offer riders new advanced models, which the company has been working on for years.

FR Series

Created to meet the demands of professional riders, the FR series has been designed with speed in mind. Its bikes feature increased stiffness, improved handling and decreased weight matched to a new racing geometry. Felt showcases several new features in the FR series, including a cable-management system system compatible with every drivetrain on the market. A BB385EVO bottom bracket optimizes pedalling efficiency. The FR series offers both rim brake- and disc brake-equipped versions; the latter has 12-mm front and rear thru axles. The frame can accommodate 28c tires.

“The FR is the result of Felt’s longstanding mission to create the best possible instrument for speed,” says Hubert Otlik, Felt’s global road brand manager. “To accomplish this, Felt’s engineers broadened the fit envelope of our legendary race geometry to ensure that all riders can attain their most powerful and efficient positions, all while increasing stiffness, decreasing weight and improving the ride quality of the FR’s predecessor.”

VR Series

The VR series was designed for the endurance road cyclist and offers improved versatility with modern technology in mind. It features a new sub-compact gearing standard which enhances its climbing capabilities. For seriously steep climbs, a rider has a 30-tooth small ring in the front of a VR2 model and a 32-tooth cog at the back. Like the FR series, it’s equipped with 12-mm front and rear thru axles. The VR2 comes with 28c tires, but it can run 40c tires depending on the tire and wheel combination. Several optional integrated convenience features include a proprietary fender mount kit and top-tube storage space for nutrition and tool kits.

“The VR is the evolution of the endurance road bike,” says Otlik. “Felt’s engineers designed it with a ride quality like no other, one that is efficient for spirited road riding and optimally compliant for epic, all-day adventures and exploring that dirt path at the top of your favourite paved climb. This is thanks, in part, to its sub-compact gearing that provides a 1:1 ratio for empowering riders to conquer any climb, even at the end of a long day in the saddle.”
