Castelli are continuously fine tuning their line of clothing for the various conditions their professional riders and everyday cyclists ride in. On these long rides you come to appreciate your equipment and the features that make them continue to perform after a strenuous day.

Many of Castelli’s products tend towards a minimalist construction to optimizing racing performance. The Premio are a pair of bib shorts to make you appreciate the extra bit of support and protection to make those long days in the saddle even more enjoyable. With extra compression in the legs, a compression band along the lower back and a higher front hold to keep everything in place, these shorts are designed for the most demanding days out on the road.

With a snug fit around the legs, hips and buttocks these shorts are designed to provide a comfortable form fit using a quick-wicking material. Castelli use carefully placed seams to avoid chafing and uncomfortable pulling. The leg endings use vertical bands that comfortably grip the leg without the use of any elastic or limiting stretch during the pedal stroke. To hold the bibs in place, the straps are designed to be light, ergonomic and seamless.

Perhaps the most important part of any pair of cycling shorts is the chamois. It can make the difference between the shorts disappearing beneath you and an unpleasant ride. Castelli use the Progetto X2 Air seat pads that seeks the fine line between plenty of padding support while continuing to be soft and unnoticeable. The chamois is made from two layers, the fabric that makes direct contact with your behind is designed to provide a comfortable point of contact with an antibacterial, soft and breathable fabric. The cushioned fabric underneath uses multi-density foam for padding where it is most needed and a vicious perforated padding for the most sensitive areas.

“A major theme when constructing the Premio was to create shorts that wearers would be able to forget they had on for logging long hours on the road free of clothing-related distractions,” said Steve Smith, Castelli brand manager.

The Premio bib shorts will be avaialble in spring 2017.
