Report: 2013 Quebec cyclocross championships
On Sunday, Quebec’s strongest crossers braved the elements in Saint-Augustin to compete in the Quebec cyclocross championships.
Raphael Gagné (Rocky Mountain Factory) won the elite men’s race. He outpaced teammate Jeremy Martin in frigid temperatures. Snow and mud provided the fitting backdrop for the day’s events. Riders were forced to watch for ice, to get off their bikes to run up slippery steps and to traverse hills that couldn’t be ridden. By the day’s end, a brown dirt path cut through the snow in the shape of the day’s parcours, creating a distinct, wintry scene that defines the sport.
Maghalie Rochette (Cyclocrossworld.com) won the elite women’s race.
Full results have yet to be posted at the Quebec Cycling Federation.
