2022 Tour de Beauce cancelled

The organizers cited the pandemic and lack of resources as the main problem

The organizers of one of Canada’s biggest stage races the Tour de Beauce have announced it will not be taking place this year. “Due to direct consequences of the pandemic, shortage of available vehicles and significant increase in several expenses, the organization of the Tour de Beauce, already postponed from September 14 to 17, 2022, is now cancelled,” the statement reads.

The cancellation is due to addition to the high costs, as well as uncertainty with the presence of several teams at the start of the event, the organizers said.

The race, which brings together athletes from more than 20 countries each year, cannot be adequately prepared and cannot be held in 2022 according to the high standards to which cyclists have been accustomed for many years in Beauce, the organizers added.

The race will be back on the International Cycling Union (UCI) calendar from June 14 to 18, 2023.

The organization of the Tour de Beauce will still be holding the Quebec Elite, Junior and Paracycling Road Cycling Championships at the end of August, La Voie Gravelée and the Quebec Gravelle Championships at the beginning of September, as well as the Gran Fondo LacMégantic on September 25.
