Crit racing can be chaotic, but on Saturday, it got even spicier after the race was over. Best Buddies rider Michael Hernandez and L39ion of Los Angeles’ Justin Williams got into big brouhaha after the race had finished.

Hernadez claimed that Cory Williams pushed him into a curb. Following the fracas, race officials DQed Hernandez and Williams for their actions. Hernandez may also face a suspension for his actions.

After the race, L39ion of Los Angeles sent a press release saying that neither its mens nor women’s teams would be riding the event on Sunday.

“Despite our efforts and success, both on and off the bike, a lack of accountability from race officials has resulted in a peloton that lacks the respect and safety expected within the professional ranks. In response to yesterday’s uncontrolled acts of aggression to our athletes, we’re prioritizing our team’s safety and will not be participating in today’s race in Salt Lake City,” the statement read.
