With the 2015 Canadian National Cycling Championships coming up this week from June 25-28 in St. Georges, Que., Accent Inns/Russ Hay’s Cycling Team p/b Scotiabank has announced its team roster for this year’s event.

Curtis Dearden, the current B.C. Time Trial champion and former Canadian National Time Trial champion for 2013, will be bringing his speed and powerhouse strength to the fore as 2015’s team leader. His focus set on reclaiming that National Time Trial title, Dearden is also eyeing the National Criterium championship — something for which his June 7 performance at the Accent Inns/Russ Hay’s Grand Prix in Victoria, B.C. has prepared the western Canadian rider, the team says.

Also a strong contender in the National Criterium and Road Championship is Cody Canning, the former B.C. Road Cycling champion and current B.C. Criterium champion. Canning heads to the nationals in Quebec after a strong showing in 2014, a season that won him the Canadian National Sprint Challenge and also the UCI Pro Challenge Sprint in Quebec City, blowing past Europcar’s Bryan Coquard and Steele Von Hoff of Garmin-Sharp.

In the U23 category, Winnipeg’s Dannick Vandale, the current Canadian National Cyclocross U23 champion, heads to Quebec to race in all disciplines. Commanding a glowing reputation as one of Canada’s best up-and-coming racers, the 19-year-old cyclist has already amassed an enviable list of achievements, finishing 3rd in Jeremy’s Roubaix, 2nd in the Tour de Bloom, and 4h in the Tour of Walla Walla. For the time trial, the team is sending Jordan Landolt, while Dylan Cunningham — fresh from the Tour de Beauce — brings his climbing prowess to the Elite men’s road race.

2012’s National Criterium Champion Ben Chaddock, meanwhile — also known for heading British Columbia’s iRide Program — joins the team as Director Sportif for this year’s Canadian National Cycling Championships.
