On Sunday, Aaron Schooler (H&R Block) won his sixth Alberta cyclocross championships. Schooler out sprinted Dustin Andrews of Trek Red Truck presented by Mosaic Homes to win the battle between Alberta’s two strongest ‘crossers. “It was the hardest fought title. It came down to a pretty close finish,” said Schooler. Ian Auld rounded out the podium, rolling in 1:35 behind Schooler and Andrews. Schooler was notably elated after his wining ride on Sunday. His Facebook profile read, “It’s official, I checked the history books. I just won my 6th Provincial CX title.”

The Capilano Tennis Club served as a backdrop for the day’s events. The cold weather made it a typical and rather frozen affair. North America’s first Tour de France yellow jersey wearer Alex Stieda was the announcer for the cyclocross action. The open women’s race was won by Chantell Widney (Pedalhead Roadworks). Deadgoat Racing’s Andrea Bunnin finished second and Shantel Koenig of Kokanee Redbike finished third.

Full results can be found at the Alberta Cycling Association.
