American rising star Matteo Jorgenson is set to join Jumbo-Visma for three seasons after four years with Movistar, the Dutch squad announced on Tuesday. Jorgenson will be Jumbo’s second American after Sepp Kuss. Jorgenson hails from Walnut Creek in the Bay Area of Northern California.

After winning the Tour of Oman, he finished 4th in E3 Saxo Classic before placing ninth in the Tour of Flanders. Jorgenson then came eighth in Paris-Nice and runner-up to Adam Yates in the Tour de Romandie. After 20th place in his first Tour de France last year, Jorgenson did not finish this season’s edition.

German sprinter Max Kanter is also leaving Movistar, off to Astana Qazaqstan for two seasons.

Jorgenson is scheduled to come to Canada in September for the Grand Prix Cycliste de Québec et Montreal.
