Andrew Pinfold Wins the Dana Point Mayor’s Cup Omnium

Andrew Pinfold, racing for UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team P/B Maxxis took the overall win.

Andrew Pinfold of the UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team Presented by Maxxis won the overall title at the Dana Point Mayor’s Cup Omnium. Pinfold finished second on the Saturday time trial and eighth in Sunday’s Dana Point Grand Prix, giving him the points needed to secure the Mayor’s Cup omnium.

Sunday’s 90 minute criterium was marred by crashes and flaring tempers, causing the UnitedHealthcare Pro lead-out train to get derailed. “We tried to get some breaks going earlier but the course was too fast to get anything going,” said Team Directeur Sportif Gord Fraser. “We took over the front of the race with eight to go. It may have been a bit early as we were a man short with Tim (Johnson) not starting today, but the guys accomplished it.”

Pinfold tweeted this about the weekend racing action, “Event filled criterium but happy to have won the overall title at the Dana Point GP. First win of season. Boys rode really well today.”
