Anne Guzman Finishes Strong at Tuscon Bicycle Classic

Anne Guzman finished fourth in the final stage of the Tuscon Bicycle Classic.

Anne Guzman, racing for Team Nanoblur-Gears had a strong race on Sunday in the final stage of the Tuscon Bicycle Classic. Racing aggressively, Guzman finished in fourth place in the 62 kilometer circuit race. The race was won by Rebecca Much. Overall, Guzman finished 15th in the general classification.

Guzman took some time after the race to tell us all about it, “The race was great. Very aggressive and I also was aggressive. I didn’t hold back and was happy with my ability to counter and follow wheels. I needed to be a bit closer to the front into the last corner but managed to pass a lot of people and end up fourth. I also went for the sprint points and managed third. So overall my goal was to leave it out there and although I wasn’t cracked at the finish I was happy with the day and with my legs.”

This was also Guzman’s first stage race of the season, “lots of learning and I’m very happy to be back racing. My goal this weekend was to be present in the moment all the time. I feel like I succeeded that, except maybe when I saw my time trial result. But was able to bank it and learn from it,” says Guzman
