BC Bike Race returns to the North Shore

After three years away, the BC Bike Race is returning to Vancouver’s North Shore in 2014. Day 1 of the race will trace a line along the North Shore trails, a mecca of mountain biking.

“The legendary North Shore has played a big part in the development of the global mountain biking history and connecting the circle route of this history from North Vancouver to Whistler just makes sense,” said BC Bike Race president Dean Payne. “We want to offer our participants the ride of their lives.”

The race will make use of newer trails on the shore that are more about flow than some of the more technical routes for which the area is known. Under the influence of Mark Woods and the North Shore Mountain Bike Association, new trails now snake their way through the North Shore mountains, ready to see the BC Bike Race return.

Following the opening day on the Shore, the race moves through Cumberland to Powell River, before heading through the Sunshine Coast and then Sea to Sky regions.

Although not returning to Campbell River, the BC Bike Race organizers have expressed their thanks to the town for all of the support it has shown during the last three years of the race.

As in previous editions, the enduro division will return for 2014 with two segments per day. Kids looking to race will be able to hit the dirt on four different courses, including North Vancouver, Cumberland, Sechelt and Squamish.
