BC road championships

Trek Red Truck riders take top honours

Trek Red Truck p/b Mosaic Homes can boast both the men’s and women’s road cycling championships after a sweep of the Westhills Road Cycling Classic Saturday. Adam deVos and Megan Rathwell, both from Victoria, emerged from their respective 10 kilometre circuits around Metchosin, BC with provincial champion jerseys.

deVos went clear of the field with Vancouver’s Dylan Davies (Super Champion Cycle Shop) midway through the 12 laps of the men’s course and then shed his breakmate to win by 1:04. Ryan Anderson came third by edging others in a group sprint.

The women’s race was animated by first year, Cat. 3 rider Anika Todd, but Rathwell, second at last year’s provincial championships, prevailed, completing the 80 kilometres in 2:29:31. Versatile rider Mical Dyck (Pro City Racing) and Nik Vogler (Russ Hay’s Accent Inns) finished second and third respectively.
