Bicycle Nova Scotia unveils new bicycle maps and routes

Bike commute

Bike commuteBicycle Nova Scotia (BNS) announced five newly mapped bicycle routes in an article posted by the Amherst News. Given the number of eco-tourists travelling Nova Scotia to cycle, the maps were needed. Prior to BNS’s effort to address the disconnect, there were very few maps for tourists to use.

BNS has created a website and map series to highlight five key routes in addition to key travel information regarding the areas these routes pass through. For example, the Annapolis Valley route has several wineries where cyclists can stop to sample some of the region’s wine.

In all there are about 40 000 visitors a year in Nova Scotia – at the moment approximately two per cent cycle when they visit Nova Scotia. The hope is that with the new campaign and efforts, bicycle routes will become more accessible and encourage tourists to venture to new locations along the way.

BNS will continue to expand its map series with the intention of encouraging further eco-tourism. Complete information can be found at Cycle Nova Scotia.
