On Sunday, the BMX Canada Cup concluded with the final race of the series in Drummondville, Que. following the national championships.

North Vancouver’s James Palmer won the men’s title despite finishing in a tie with Mischa Partridge from Duncan, BC after nine races. The precise scenario Palmer had hoped for occurred at the final Canada Cup on Sunday. Palmer needed a win while Partridge needed to finish no higher than third place. Palmer managed to win all three motos of the day while Partridge suffered from injuries from the BMX Nationals the day before.  Palmer and Mishca both finished the series with 4700 points. Palmer was awarded the series win because he won the final. Canada’s national champion, Tory Nyhaug finished third in the series with 2800 points.

Eliane McAdam won the women’s title comfortably with 4780 points. She finished a distant 1300 points ahead of Amelia Walsh of Ayr, Ont. Rosemary Adams of Surrey, BC placed third in the series. McAdam won four of nine Canada Cup races this year and was one of the few riders who could push Walsh whenever she competed in Canada Cups. When Walsh did compete, she won four of the five races she entered.

The junior men’s category was a competitive series. Winning the finals allowed Hayden Mechielson of Langley, BC to move from third place to first. He tied Jared Ennis from Coquiltlam, BC with 3450 points and was awarded the win after winning the finals. Alberta’s Kiran Kawa finished in third.

Drew Mechielson, sister of Hayden won the junior women’s title with 3460 points. Burnaby, BC’s Erin Kinnie finished second a mere 200 points behind, while Daina Tuchshere finished third.
