Brandon Semenuk leads all-Canadian Crankworx slopestyle podium

Canadian Brandon Semenuk once again reinforced his dominance in free ride mountain biking by winning the Red Bull Joyride slope style competition at Crankworx Whistler. Semenuk won the event in 2011 and 2013, making this his third victory in his last four attempts.

Semenuk won with a score of 96.80.

“I’m so pumped. It’s insane to just win this event, nevermind doing it back-to-back,” said Semenuk, who’s won three out of the last four Red Bull Joyrides – the 23-year-old first won in 2011, then again in 2013.

Semenuk has also racked up three additional podium finishes in slopestlye over previous editions. The 2014 victory makes Semenuk the most decorated rider in Crankworx history.

Prior to his winning performance, Semenuk was most worried about the impressive run by Brett Rheeder, who scored a 94.20.

Anthony Messare rounded out the all-Canadian podium with a final score of 84.00.

“It was a rad event. Definitely some high-level slopestyle,” said Semenuk. “Such a good course. Basically allowed the riders to get next-level with the tricks.”
