Canada names Pan Am cycling team

Tory Nyhaug, David Veilleux, Guillaume Boivin, Laura Brown, Joelle Numainville and Max Plaxton headline the list of Canadian cyclists who will chase podium positions at the Pan Am Games.

Eighteen of Canada’s top cyclists will represent the country at the upcoming Pan Am Games in Guadalajara, Mexico, Oct. 14-30. Tory Nyhaug, David Veilleux, Guillaume Boivin, Laura Brown, Joelle Numainville and Max Plaxton headline the list of riders who will chase podium positions.

The Pan Ams include BMX, mountain biking, track cycling and road cycling.

The event is an important part of the preparation process for the 2012 Olympics but it’s not a direct qualifier. For some cycling disciplines, UCI points will be on the line, which plays a role in determining world rankings used for Olympic selection.

A full team list is available on the Canadian Cycling Association website.
