Cycling fans, feel free to return from the edges of your seats: Canada’s official representation at the 2015 Pan American Games, happening July 10 to 26, has been announced.

Being the event’s host nation, Canada will take full advantage of the maximum of 24 riders allowed, making the home-nation team the largest cycling team at the Pan Am Games. Across all disciplines — track and road, mountain bike and BMX — Canada will field 16 riders in the track and road events, four in mountain biking, and another four will ride BMX.

It’s a who’s-who of Canada’s cycling elite, ready to mark — among other things — the official, international unveiling of Milton, Ont.’s new Cisco Milton Pan Am/Parapan Am Velodrome, the third of its class in North America and the first of its kind in Canada, when track events are hosted from July 16 to 19. Another legacy of the Games will be the site of the Pan Am BMX competitions: Centennial Park in Etobicoke, Ont., anticipated to bring a wave of new athletes to Ontario and eastern Canada.

But it’s today’s announced crop of competing talent that’s really electrifying the pre-competition anticipation. “Canada has a great track record in Pan Am cycling with a total of 43 medals since 1967,” said Marcel Aubut, president of the Canadian Olympic Committee. “Our roster of talent this year has everything it takes to keep Canada on its medal trajectory.”

The cycling contingent which will represent Canada at the TORONTO 2015 Games includes:
