Canadians Racing Tough at the TOC

Canadian road racers showed some excellent form and strength today at the TOC.

The highlight of the third stage of the Tour of California was the climb up Bonny Doon Road. A hard-charging break full of Canadians including Will Routley (Jelly Belly), Ryan Anderson (Kelly Benefit Strategies) and Eric Boily (SpiderTech) was caught just before the base of the infamous climb at around 150 kilometers into the stage. Routley was the last to be caught as he attacked the break and lead a solo attempt up the climb before being overtaken by the fast-charging peloton. Routley was awarded the Most Aggressive rider award for his efforts in stage three of the Tour of California.

A break of three riders eventually got away on the climb with race winner David Zabriskie (Garmin-Transitions) sprinting to victory over Micheal Rogers (HTC-Colombia) and Levi Leipheimer (Team RadioShack).

The top Canadian on the day was Francois Parisien (SpiderTech Powered by Planet Energy) in ninth position followed by Ryder Hesjedal (Garmin-Transitions) in 10th position.
