Canadians take on UCI elite mountain bike circuits

The International Cycling Union (UCI) announced that a total of 121 teams, from 31 countries, have been registered for the up coming mountain bike season. Canada will field two teams among the 30 cross country and downhill teams that have elite status.

The two Canadian elite teams are Scott-3 Rox Racing in the cross country category and Devinci Global Racing in the downhill category.

Devinci Global Racing’s roster includes Nick Beer, Dean Lucas, Steve Smith, Gianluca Vernassa and Mark Wallace. Scott-3Rox Racing’s team includes Geoff Kabush, Cameron Jette, Mikaela Kofman, Marc-Antoine Nadon, Amanda Sin and national champion Derek Zandstra.

Other Canadians competing on the elite cross country circuit are national champion Emily Batty (Trek Factory Racing), Catharine Pendrel and Maghalie Rochette (Luna Pro Team), and Max Plaxton (Cannondale Factory Racing).

The other elite cross country teams include Betch.nl Superior Brent Jens, BH-SunTour-KMC, BMC Mountain Bike Racing, Focus XC Team, Ghost Factory Racing, Giant Pro XC, Multivan Merida Biking, Sabine Spitz Haibike Pro, Scott-Odlo MTB, Specialized Racing XC and Team Colnago Suntrol.

The other elite downhill teams include BlackThorn GT, Chain Reaction Cycles.com-Nukeproof, Commencal-Riding Addiction, Evil Vengeance Tour, Giant Factory Off-Road, Gstaad-Scott, GT Factory Racing, Hutchinson UR, Lapierre Gravity Republic, Madison Saracen Factory Team, Santa Cruz Syndicate, Specialized Racing DH, Trek World Racing and Unior Tools Team.
