Canyon//SRAM 2016 kit an “elegant,” “cool” look for a bold and ambitious squad going into next season

It goes without saying that the official kit of Canyon//SRAM in 2016, designed and developed by Rapha, won't have any problems grabbing eyeballs.

The official kit of Canyon//SRAM in 2016, it goes without saying, won’t have any problems grabbing eyeballs.

Developed by Rapha, the design’s purpose is specifically that: to get the squad, a team with big plans for 2016, noticed at the front of their 2016 races. The attire is described as a kit that’s anything but intended to hide its riders, instead highlighting them in the bunch as they roll out at major competitions, all but shining a spotlight on the squad’s bold, ambitious talent.

The team’s kit, Rapha’s website says, is inspired by the “tessellated effect of layered hazard tape,” something already strikingly visible as it is. With the trend set by the team’s look for 2016, Rapha plans to continue the trend, introducing similar designs to the team’s bikes and other equipment—”unifying the look of the team.”

Riders with the Canyon//SRAM squad, of course, have been effusive in their praise of the new, eye-catching kit.

“The kit makes me feel comfortable, beautiful and special,” said Alena Amialiusik. Her sentiment was shared by Elena Cecchini, who said, “It makes me feel like a woman: elegant and cool!”

Others on the team, meanwhile, suggested that the effect of the gear is an impressive one for other reasons, giving competitors the impression that the squad they face is a well-oiled, organized and skilled one. “When you put this kit on,” said Tiffany Cromwell, “you’re ready for business: it’s aero and fits in all the right places.” Lisa Brennauer added, “It makes me feel fast. It has a really unique and good look.”

For consumers, women will be able to purchase the new Canyon//SRAM kit in March 2016, with a men’s version forthcoming for 2017.
