Car crashes into Burlington, Ont., bike shop

BrantOn Tuesday, a 72-year-old woman drove into the front window of Brant Cycle.

“She was going 60 km/h,” said Chris Kupi, an employee of Brant Cycle. Surprisingly no one was injured, not the driver or anyone who was inside the store. There wasn’t much damage to any of the store’s merchandise either.

The store is at the busy intersection of Brant Street and Fairview Street in Burlington, Ont., both with four lanes, each direction separated by medians.

“The most bizarre thing about the entire scenario is how did she cross multiple lanes of traffic, onto a sidewalk, then into the store?” Kupi said. “Then instead of being thankful that she and no one else was hurt, the driver seemed mad when she got out of the car, citing that she was just trying to get to her doctor.”

As bizarre as this situation was, police are still investigating. The driver of the vehicle may have been cut off, which caused her to veer out of control.

The cost of the damage to the building is likely $10,000. On Tuesday afternoon, workers were quick to board up the gap in an attempt to keep some warmth in on one of the coldest days of the year.
