City cycling funds are up for renewal in Burnaby

Edmonton city councillor wants to move bike lanes.

The cycling community is asking the Burnaby City Hall to renew its funding for cycling programs, up to $9,180 worth. The funds would go toward printing maps of the city’s cycling infrastructure, building community cycling awareness and getting people to ride their bikes more often.

According to an article posted on vancouver.24hrs.ca, participation in Burnaby cycling programs has increased to 37 per cent over the previous year.

The community hopes to continue building its Bike to Work Week, Bike to School Week, cycling maps and its learn-to-ride campaigns such as StreetWise Cycling courses.

The bike maps are free and can be picked up at any community recreation centre, library, tourist centre, city hall and on the city’s website.
