Crankworx Whistler XC course unveiled

Festival known for gravity riding goes cross country

The brains behind the ever-popular Crankworx Whistler event have unveiled the course for the XC Open and Canada Cup finale races to be held in Whistler, B.C., during the month of August.

Measuring just over 5.5 kilometres, the course snakes through the Lost Lake trails adjacent to the Whistler village. The course map outlines a course that features two 50m climbs on each lap, with the start and finish in the Spruce Grove Park.

“We are very pleased the proposed course,” says Mathieu Boucher, director of performance development at Cycling Canada. “The Lost Lake loop that will be used for the Canada Cup Final will feature some of the nicest twisty single tracks that Whistler can offer. Russell Wood and his team are working really hard to offer a great Canada Cup course that will please both: the Pro and the amateur racers.”

Crankworx is known as the biggest freeride mountain bike festival in the world, featuring slopestyle and downhill competitions that have shaped the sport over the event’s ten year history. Crankworx Whistler is being held August 9-18, 2013. The XC race takes place on August 14.
