Cycling B.C. announces 2014 provincial selections

Cycling B.C. announced the selection of athletes who will make up the high performance teams, provincial BMX teams, and youth and junior development programs during the 2014 season.

The high performance mountain bike team will focus on top-level racing. The team includes Jack Iles, Finn Iles, Jack Almond, Nik Dunn, Henry Fitzgerald, Magnus Manson, Rhys Verner, Luke Di Marzo, Jennifer McTavish, Mahon Lamont, Quinn Moberg, Georgia Astel, Austin Reith, Stephanie Denroche, Sean Fincham, Luke Di Marzo and Rhys Verner.

The road team will include Jessica Reynolds, Maggie Lyster, Gillian Ellsay, Kia Van Der Vliet, Clara Mackenzie, Tarryn Cote, Mark Grant, Cordell Dickie, Jackson Pickell, Keifer Livingstone, Joel Taylor, John Willcox, Fergus Horrobin and James Grant.

The track team includes Mark Grant, Holly Simonson, James Grant, John Willcox, Gillian Ellsay, Kia Van Der Vliet, Clara Mackenzie, Tarryn Cote, Cordell Dickie, Jackson Pickell, Keifer Livingstone, Christopher Macleod, Brodie Hay, Alex Amiri and Jessica Reynolds.

Cycling B.C.’s provincial BMX team includes 24 athletes and the goal is to help develop these riders into future national champions and Olympians. The full list of athletes can be found on Cycling B.C.’s website.

Cycling B.C. also announced the 48 athletes who will be apart of the youth development program and 22 athletes that will make up the junior development program. This year’s program will include three regional teams from Vancouver Island, Lower mainland and Interior.  They will receive credit to attend five of the 12 camps at BMX tracks across the province. The program’s goals is to target younger athletes, develop skills and prepare for top-level competition.
