Cycling BC announces premier road series

BC BC BCOn March 7, Cycling BC announced the renewal of its top-level road series ahead of the 2014 season. The organization hopes to bring consistent high-calibre racing back to the province. Cycling BC also announced the downhill and BMX schedules.

The 2014 BC Premier Road series will include five major events: the Devo Spring Classics Series Stage Race, Race the Ridge, Robert Cameron Law Cycling series, the UBC Grand Prix and the Tour de White Rock criterium.

The series is designed to provide aspiring racers with racing that is accessible and to give athletes a realistic basis to work progressively toward their goals. All race categories will have access to this series, including masters and lower-level elite categories.

The UBC Grand Prix and the Tour de White Rock are also part of BC Superweek, the province’s most renowned cycling week.

“Our aim is to make winning the BC Premier Series a goal for B.C.’s top racers—something that they can be proud of and aspire to,” said race and event co-ordinator Barry Lyster in a Cycling BC press release.

Cycling BC has also announced the six event BC Cup Downhill Series in the Pacific Northwest and the five-round BC Cup BMX series calendar.
