As previously reported by Canadian Cycling Magazine, Milton, Ont. will be hosting the Eastern Track Challenge, an event coming to the Mattamy National Cycling Centre next month.

The competition will roll out on Feb. 13, 2016.

A prelude to the Canadian track championships in Milton, happening from April 1 to 3 of this year, the Eastern Challenge is a national-level event primarily meant for athletes in development. It’s an opportunity for those athletes to measure themselves against riders from other provinces, refining the talent of Canadian cyclists to world-class levels across a variety of categories.

Principally, Cycling Canada says, the event consists of competitions for U17 and Junior riders, but there are also races for elite-level and masters riders, too. Presented by Cycling Canada and the Ontario Cycling Association, the Eastern Track Challenge happens in conjunction with the OCA’s O-Cup #3. As of press time, Quebec’s provincial team has confirmed its attendance, while registration will be open to track riders from other provinces as well.

Elite and masters riders in Ontario, as is the case with O-Cup events, will be given priority registration in those categories.

Further registration and technical information will soon be available on the OCA and Cycling Canada websites. Registration for the competition, meanwhile, is set to open on Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2016.
