With the boards of Rio 2016 still warm to the touch, another highlight of the track cycling season will kick off in late September, when Cycling Canada Week gets underway at the Mattamy National Cycling Centre in Milton, Ont.

Cycling Canada Week will consist of three major events, happening during a nine-day period.

The Week kicks off on Sept. 24 with the Canadian track cycling championships, when the elite, master and para riders hit the Milton velodrome to ride for the red and white. The national-level event then concludes on Sept. 26. Days later, Cycling Canada Week picks up once again with the Milton International Challenge, also held at the world-class Milton, Ont., facility. For another three days, Sept. 29 and Oct. 1, Canadian riders will compete head-to-head against some of the world’s best track specialists, offering fans an exciting throwback to Rio with many of the same athletes starting.

The Challenge’s debuted in early 2015, where it served as a test event for the Toronto 2015 Pan Am Games of that summer.

Cycling Canada Week rolls to a finish on Oct. 2 with the second annual Cycling Canada Hall of Fame induction ceremonies, featuring a gilded class of names reported by Canadian Cycling Magazine earlier this summer. Along with a luncheon honouring those inductees, events will feature Cycling Canada’s first-ever Legends Ride, offering fans and supporters the chance to ride alongside Hall of Fame inductees and National Team athletes. The fully supported road ride, threading through the scenic Halton Hills region of Ontario, will start and finish at the Crosswinds Golf and Country Club.
