Cycling’s most famous couple, Urška Žigart and Tadej Pogačar just won the nationals
The professional pair each won their respective categories at the Slovenian TT champs
The sport’s super-couple, Urška Žigart and Tadej Pogačar just won some hardware at the 2023 Slovenian time trial championships. Žigart is in fine form, having just finished the Tour de Suisse, where she was 75 m away from snagging a win.
Belgian newspaper refers to Women’s WorldTour cyclist Urška Žigart as “Pogačar’s girlfriend”
Her fiancé, the former Tour de France winner, was back racing after a break due to a broken wrist at Liège–Bastogne–Liège. Žigart, who rides for Women’s WorldTour team, Jayco AlUla won the 15.7 km test from Zgornje Gorje Pokljuka in 38:19, almost two minutes faster than another Urška, (Pintar) from BTC City Ljubljana Scott.
In the men’s race, Pog annihilated the competition, putting over 5 minutes into Marko Pavlič (mebloJOGI Pro-concrete.) The course was a very tough, uphill race, which explains the former Tour de France winner averaging 32 km/h. Both Žigart and Pogačar will also be racing for the road title on Sunday.
