Day 1 in the books at Toronto UCI Cyclocross race

Hudz-Subaru rider Davide Frattini beat Derrick St. John, of the Garneau-Club Chaussures-Ogilvy by 22 seconds to win Elite Men’s race on Day 1 of the Toronto International Cyclocross UCI race weekend. Aaron Schooler, of Tea H&R Block) was third, 10 seconds back with Andrew Watson and Evan McNeely rounding out the Top 5.

On the women’s side Katy Curtis, of CMC/Bow Cycle, was the first one across the line, edging St. John’s teammate Natasha Elliott by four seconds. Pepper Harlton (Juventus) was third with Melissa Bunn and Leigh Hobson rounding out the Top 5.

Other winners on the day were: Steve Proulx (Stevens P/B The Cyclery) in Master 1 Men; Robert Sule (Chain Reaction) in Master 2 Men;Scott Thomson (Independent) in Master 3 Men; Joanne Thomson (Ride with Randall) in Master Women; Alex Gibson (Esteemtraining.com) in beginner men; Stefan Milosevic (Chain Reaction) in cadet men; Siobhan Kelly (independent) in Cadet women; and Benjamin Perry (St. Catharines Cycling Club) in junior men.
