Toronto cycling advocates stickering cars parked in bike lanes

PARKED IN A BIKE LANEA group of cycling advocates in Toronto are looking to change a common occurrence. Drivers often park their cars in bicycle lanes, forcing cyclists into a regular traffic lane possibility putting them into danger. In an effort draw attention to bike-lane parking, a Toronto group is placing bright green fluorescent “I parked in a bicycle lane” stickers on the bumpers of cars who have done this.

The group behind this campaign has set up an Instagram account in an effort to better spread its  message. In addition to posting photos of tagged vehicles, they are sending batches of stickers to those who are willing to also take an active role in the effort.

It’s likely the reaction of drivers will be somewhat diverse. The hope is that most will acknowledge why they were tagged and avoid parking in bicycle lanes in the future. Although it is likely some will just shrug it off.
