Ed Sheeran hit by car while cycling, breaks arm

Singer-songwriter was hit riding in London with upcoming tour dates now in jeopardy

English singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran has broken his arm in a cycling crash putting his upcoming concerts on his world tour in jeopardy. Sheeran was riding in London on Monday morning when he was reportedly hit by a car.

“I’ve had a bit of a bicycle accident,” Sheeran wrote in an Instagram post accompanied by a picture of his arm in a cast. “I’m currently waiting on some medical advice, which may affect some of my upcoming shows. Please stay tuned for further news.”

The 26-year-old multi-award winning star was scheduled to play a show in Taipei next week with a further 14 shows on schedule before the end of the year.

The tour is to promote his third album Divide which was released in March and topped the charts in 14 countries including Canada.

Sheeran was reportedly taken to hospital. The cast on his lower right arm will likely make it hard for Sheeran — who sings and plays guitar — to play his shows which he performs solo.

It’s not the first time a performer has been injured in a cycle crash. U2 lead singer Bono broke his arm in six places and fractured his eye socket in an accident in Central Park in 2014.
