Edmonton cyclists can look forward to year-round bicycle lanes

The-City-of-Edmonton-Logo1As a part of an initiative to create greater accessibility for Edmonton commuters, city councillors have been developing new project aimed to clear bike paths of snow and debris all year round.

After the completion of a pilot project where the city of Edmonton plowed bike lanes on key corridors last winter they are now looking to get feedback from citizens who use the lanes. The city’s hope is to be able to make their efforts as effective as possible using the feedback of regular users of the lane.

The lead of this project is Christopher Chan who is an Edmonton City councillor. He cites the reality that there is less conflict between cyclists and drivers when there are wide, clear and safe lanes. The goal is to have 1-metre wide lanes the entire year using already integrated snow plowing and road clean-up infrastructure.

The complete survey can be found at the City of Edmonton.
