Field Sprint Finish at Tirreno-Adriatico

Canadians Michael Barry and Ryder Hesjedal finish comfortably in the pack in stage 3.

For the second time today, a member of Liquigas-Doimo stood on the top podium step. Today at Tirreno-Adriatico, sprinter Daniele Bennati won the sprint while his teammate Peter Sagan won the Paris-Nice stage.

Both Michael Barry of Team Sky and Ryder Hesjedal of Garmin-Transitions finished the day securely in the main field. Hesjedal finished in 33rd position and sits in 23rd in the general classification. Barry finished in 50th position and is 51st in the general classification.

After his 159 kilometer day on the bike, Barry took the time to tell us about the race, “The team rode well and was up front throughout the day. We rode to lead out Edvald Boasson Hagen for the victory. We made some errors in the final kilometers but otherwise the stage went well.”

Now three days into the stage race, Barry says “I’m feeling good and the morale within the team is high. We have two long and hard days coming up that will be decisive so I will be doing a lot of work for our leaders throughout the stages. We have a few riders who can win so we will be working together to accomplish the goal. Everybody is eager and committed–the ambiance is great.”
