Fox issues fork recall

Mountain bike suspension manufacturer Fox Racing Shox has issued a recall for 40,000 Evolution series forks after a problem was discovered in just one fork. The recall was issued voluntarily and applies to forks bought between March 1, 2012 and Nov. 30, 2012.

Fox is known as one of the premier suspension manufacturers. While they have a well-deserved reputation for performance and quality, there may be an issue with the internals of the affected forks, which include Float and Talas models.

One fork was discovered to have a problem with the damper cylinder and piston assembly separating, resulting in an over-extension of the fork. This situation would make it possible for the fork to separate completely, although that did not happen with the fork in question.

To determine whether the recall applies to your fork, visit the Fox website, and submit either the four digit ID code located on the back of the left leg, or the serial number found under the crown of the fork.

Anyone who has a recalled fork will receive a free set of upgrade parts to be installed by a local Fox dealer.
