Fraser Valley gets Gran Fondo event

A new Gran Fondo event is coming to British Columbia’s Fraser Valley, set for May 27, 2012.

The Mission Classic Gran Fondo, organized by Outback Events Ltd., hopes to attract 1,500 cyclists for races of 120K and 70K, starting and finishing in Mission (an hour east of Vancouver). The course features “beautiful scenery, timed climbs, well-paved roads, supported aid stations, professional on-course support and the camaraderie of group cycling,” organizers said in a news release.

There will be prizes for age group and team categories, along with a free community concert post-race.
