Movistar’s Annemiek van Vleuten took another win at the Giro d’Italia Donne, padding her lead in pink. The 109.1 km-race from Albenga to Alassio was another hilly day, and the gaps at the finish were sizable. Van Vleuten put 13 seconds into Juliette Labous (Team dsm-firmenich), and 20 into Gaia Realini (Lidl – Trek). With the ten bonus seconds for the win, the world champion now leads the race by 3:56 over Labous, who moves into second, and 4:25 over Realini, who takes over third.

Sole Canadian rider Magdeleine Vallieres (EF Education-TIBCO-SVB) finished 24th on the day, and moves up in the GC to 48th. Her teammate Veronica Ewers falls in the overall from second to fourth.

“Every day it’s just a real race and especially today I was in a battle for the podium,” van Vleuten said after the seventh stage. “We have the race well under control with the team. That’s really cool anyway. Every day I had a teammate with me in the past stages. So as a collective, we’re in good shape.”

There are two stages remaining at the Giro d’Italia Donne.
