Hamilton and Jeanson lose their Mt. Washington Hillclimb records

Admitted dopers disqualified

American Tyler Hamilton and Canadian Genevieve Jeanson lost their Mount Washington Auto Road Bicycle Hillclimb records Tuesday for admitted performance enhancing drug use. The annual 12.2 km hillclimb on roads that average 12% and kick up to 21% in spots, has been run since 1973 and raises money for the Tin Mountain Conservation Center.

Hamilton admitted recently on newsmagazine program 60 Minutes that he doped and claimed that he saw Lance Armstrong do it as well. Jeanson also came clean in 2007 during a TV interview that she’d been taking PED’s since she was 16. Hamilton owned the record for men 35-39; it now belongs to Mike Engleman at 53:53. Jeanson made the women’s open high-mark in 2002; now the seemly ageless Jeanie Longo owns it with 58:14. Jeanson also loses two age-category records

Sue Schlatter was the last Canadian to win the prestigious race in 2009.
