Hughes, Numainville and Ramsden at Olympic road race – Photos

Hughes continues to chase her seventh Olympic medal.

Six-time Olympic medallist, Clara Hughes led the Canadian team, Joelle Numainville and Denise Ramsden, who is the national road champion, in the women’s road race at the London Olympic Games on Sunday. Casey Gibson captured photos of the three ladies on the pre-race sign-in stage and during the 140 km event.

Numainville finished 12th on the day, Ramsden 27th and Hughes 32nd.

Hughes is one of the rare athletes who has won medals in both the summer and winter Olympic Games – cycling and speed skating. One of her goals in London is to add a seventh medal to her accolades, making her the most decorated Olympic athlete in Canadian history.

She will have another chance to try and secure that medal in the women’s individual time trial on August 1.
