Interview with Catharine Pendrel at Mont-Sainte-Anne World Cup

On Sunday, Catharine Pendrel of Luna Pro Team finished second in the elite women’s cross country race, part of the Mont-Sainte-Anne edition of the 2014 UCI mountain bike World Cup. The podium place follows fast on Pendrel’s gold at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.

Shortly after the race in Quebec, Pendrel spoke about her performance. She was happy with her start and was able to move up in the field throughout. She felt the race confirmed her feeling about her form: it’s good. While she dominated the race in Glasgow and won at the Canadian nationals earlier in July, the fields were smaller than the World Cup group at Mont-Sainte-Anne. The challenge now for Pendrel is maintaining her form throughout the rest of the World Cup, with its final at Hafjell, Norway on Sept. 2.

Pendrel’s next World Cup race is in Windham, N.Y. She admits that it’s traditionally an event in which she does well. She was second at Windham in 2011. In 2012, on her way to winning the World Cup overall, she won in Windham.
