Junior men’s racing: Toronto’s Hudson Lubbers wins in Ireland, Waterloo’s Ethan Powell leads Abitibi

Canada’s Hudson Lubbers took a big win at the Junior Tour of Ireland on Wednesday. The Ignite rider won Stage 2, a 103-km race in Ennis. Liam O´Brien took stage 1, a 48 km ride in Barefield, with Canada’s Charles Bergeron (Ignite) coming in second. O’Brien now leads the overall, Lubber is in the points and Bergeron is wearing the climber’s jersey.

Tour de l’Abitibi Stage 1

The biggest junior race in North America started on Tuesday, the Tour de l’Abitibi. Stage 1 covered 116.7 km between Val-d’Or and Amos, passing through Barraute. Team Canada’s Ethan Powell took the win over France’s Paul Picard, with Satoaki Nagashima (Japan) slotting in third.

In the general classification, Ethan Powell leads, as well as the climbing competition and points. who won the polka dot jersey, awarded to the best climber as well as the orange jersey and the prestigious brown jersey, awarded respectively for the most points and best time. Team Canada’s Jonathan Hinse takes the blue jersey for best young rider.
