Kabush to defend Whiskey Off-Road title

Arizona mountain bike race attracts Canadians

The 9th annual Whiskey Off-Road has attracted many Canadian mountain bikers including defending champion, Geoff Kabush (Scott-3Rox Racing). The race is part of a three-day cycling festival held from April 26 to 28 in Arizona.

The weekend kicks off with 15 Proof and Fat Tire Criterium on Friday, and moves on to the 25 Proof and 50 Proof events on Saturday, concluding with the Pro 50 Proof on Sunday.

Kabush won last year’s Fat Tire Criterium and Pro 50 Proof cross country race. This year, Kabush will join a strong line up on the start line that includes other Canadians Max Plaxton (Sho-Air-Cannondale), Chris Sneddon (Kona), Derek Zandstra and Cameron Jette (Scott-3Rox Racing) and Matt Ewonus (Balance Point Racing).

Canada’s Mical Dyck (Stan’s No Tubes) will participate in the elite women’s race.

Organizers are offering equal prize money of $40,000 for both the elite men’s and women’s fields. The races will start on “Whiskey Row” in Prescott and climb up paved road to the start of the single track in Prescott National Forest. The course includes fast single track, fire roads and lots of climbing.
