Kabush wins Whiskey Off-Road

Cross country events conclude three-day bike festival

Canada’s Geoff Kabush (Scott-3Rox Racing) successfully defended his title at the Whiskey Off-Road Pro 50 Proof elite men’s race held on Sunday in Prescott, Arizona. His fellow countrymen finished with strong top-10 performances.

Kabush finished the cross country race nearly five minutes ahead of Sho-Air/Cannondale teammates Jeremiah Bishop and Max Plaxton, who is the Canadian mountain bike champion. Derek Zandstra (Scott-3Rox Racing) placed 10th on the day.

Lesley Paterson (Scott Bikes) won the elite women’s race ahead of Katerina Nash (Luna Pro) and Kelli Emmett (Giant-SRAM). Mical Dyck (Stan’s No Tubes) was the top placed Canadian in 8th and Amanda Sin (Scot Sports) placed 13th on the day.

The 9th annual Whiskey Off-Road mountain bike festival was held from April 26 to 28 through the Prescott National Forest. The events included a 15 Proof race, Fat Tire Criterium, 25 Proof, 50 Proof and Pro 50 Proof races. Festivities included a health and wellness expo, live music, New Belgium Brewing beer garden, onsite cafe, kids events and athlete interviews.
