Kabush, Zandstra to ride Crank the Shield

Scott-3 Rox Racing duo to contest eastern Ontario stage race

Following his best-ever Olympic showing with eighth place, Geoff Kabush, along with his Scott-3 Rox Racing teammate  Derek Zandstra, will challenge the Crank the Shield mountain bike stage race. The eastern Ontario point-to-point event takes place September 14-16 and will involve more than 300 cyclists.

After taking a year off, the Shield race returns with drier conditions, more single track and various stage formats, including a two-day version of the race. The course travels through Haliburton County into the Algonquin Highlands near Minden Township.

Geoff Kabush’s eighth  place at Hadleigh Farm near London, 1:36 behind Czech gold-medallist Jaroslav Kulhavy, is the highest-ever result by a Canadian male in an Olympic mountain bike race. Kabush had previously shared the record with Seamus McGrath, who finished ninth at the 2004 Olympics in Athens.
